Privacy Policy
This website is operated by Almsport GmbH, company register no. FN 201779i (hereinafter referred to as “we”, “us”, and “INTERSPORT”), with its registered office at Dorfstraße 8, A–5761 Maria Alm. In this privacy policy, we, as the controller pursuant to Art. 4(7) GDPR, describe which data we collect when you visit our website and for what purpose we process it.
The protection of your personal data is of particular importance to us. Naturally, we strictly comply with the statutory provisions of the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) when collecting and processing your personal data.
Below, we provide you with detailed information about the scope and purpose of our data processing, as well as your rights as a data subject. We therefore ask you to read this privacy policy carefully before continuing to use our website and, where applicable, giving your consent to data processing.
Please refer to section 12 of this privacy policy for all relevant contact details.
1. Personal Data
In principle, our website can be used without providing personal data. However, different rules may apply for the use of individual services, about which we will inform you separately. In particular, if you wish to use our reservation and rental services, it is necessary that you provide us with certain data for this purpose.
Apart from the cookies described in detail below, we generally only collect and store the data that you voluntarily provide to us by entering it into our input forms or by otherwise actively interacting with our website.
Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your name, address, telephone number, or date of birth, but also the items and services you reserve via our booking platform.
2. Use of Cookies
a. Informational use of the website
If you use our website for informational purposes only (i.e. if you do not use any of our services or otherwise transmit information to us), we only collect the personal data that your browser transmits to our server.
If you wish to view our website, we collect the following data, which is technically necessary to display the website to you and to ensure its stability and security based on our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR:
- IP address
- Date and time of the request
- Time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
- Content of the request
- Access status / HTTP status code
- Amount of data transferred in each case
- Website from which the request originates
- Browser used
- Operating system and its interface
- Language and version of the browser software
b. Cookies
In addition to the data mentioned above, cookies are stored on your device when you use our website. These are small text files stored on your hard drive and assigned to the browser you are using. They allow certain information to be transmitted to the party that sets the cookie (in this case, us).
On the one hand, cookies are used to recognize you as a user of the website, and on the other hand, to make reservations placed via our services traceable in the shopping cart.
Our website uses the following types of cookies:
Transient cookies
These are automatically deleted when you close your browser. This includes session cookies, which store a session ID that allows different requests from your browser to be assigned to the same session. This enables your device to be recognized when you return to our website. Session cookies are deleted when you log out or close your browser.
Persistent cookies
These are automatically deleted after a predefined period, which may vary depending on the cookie. You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.
You can configure your browser settings to reject third-party cookies or all cookies. However, please note that you may then not be able to use all functions of our website.
We also use cookies to identify you for subsequent visits if you have an account with us; otherwise, you would need to log in again each time.
c. Local Storage
We also use so-called local storage functions (also referred to as “local storage”). Data is stored locally in your browser cache and may persist even after the browser is closed (unless you delete the cache or it is session storage).
Third parties cannot access data stored in local storage. If specific plugins or tools use local storage, this is described in the respective plugin or tool.
If you do not want plugins or tools to use local storage, you can configure this in your browser settings. Please note that this may result in limited functionality.
3. Collection and Processing of Personal Data & Storage Period
To process your reservation, handle your booking in accordance with the contract, and maintain our services, we use the booking system of INTERSPORT AUSTRIA Gesellschaft m.b.H., Flugplatzstraße 10, 4600 Wels (“ISA”).
Personal data collected via the cookies mentioned above or through your explicit input is used by us to maintain our website services, to enable reservations made via the ISA reservation tool, and subsequently for direct marketing purposes.
While certain data you provide in the ISA reservation tool is processed for the purpose of initiating and fulfilling a contract, we process data for maintaining our services and for marketing purposes based on our legitimate interest.
For certain tools, you may voluntarily provide data and give consent for the intended processing; this will be indicated separately. Otherwise, we use the personal data you provide exclusively within the scope of the stated purposes, for example, to send advertising and informational material to existing customers in compliance with the Telecommunications Act (TKG).
In summary, the purpose of processing your data is to operate our website and to provide company-specific information, including presenting our products and services (marketing). Any further use of your data will only take place if you have given your explicit consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect, as explained below.
Data that you provide to us solely for customer service or marketing and information purposes is generally stored for up to five years after our last contact. However, we will delete your data earlier upon request, provided that no legal obligations prevent this.
In the case of initiating or concluding a contract, we process your personal data after full completion of the contract until the expiry of applicable warranty periods, limitation periods, and statutory retention obligations, and beyond that until the conclusion of any legal disputes in which the data is required as evidence.
4. INTERSPORT Rent
We use the ISA booking platform, which is also connected to other INTERSPORT retailers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, all of which can be searched and selected at https://www.intersportrent.at/de/standorte.
As part of reserving sports equipment, it is necessary to collect certain personal data, such as your contact details as well as information about your weight, height, shoe size, and skill level, along with details of accompanying persons who are also making reservations. This information is required in order to tailor sports equipment to your needs in advance of your on-site reservation and to provide you with the highest level of comfort and maximum safety. If you prefer not to provide such data via our website, you may contact our locations directly.
Once your reservation request has been processed in our system, a contractual relationship is generally established between you and us. You may pay for the selected products via an external payment provider.
After a successful reservation and, if applicable, payment, we may proceed with fine-tuning and handing over the reserved goods.
It is possible that we collect and update this data not only via www.bikepoint-mariaalm.at, but also through information you provide on other platforms such as www.intersportrent.at, www.intersportrent.de, www.intersportrent.ch, www.intersportrent.it, www.intersportrent.com, or via cooperation partners in the B2B sector, affiliate partners, or cooperating travel providers (https://www.intersportrent.at/de/kooperationen).
We process the personal data provided during the reservation process for the duration of any applicable statutory retention periods, but in any case for at least 5 years, also in your interest, so that we can offer you the same products you have previously used and hopefully found satisfactory (e.g. skis, ski boots, or other sports equipment) in a suitable configuration for any future reservations.
5. Use of Your Data for Direct Marketing Purposes
When you visit our website or use our reservation service, we collect certain personal data which we also process based on legitimate interest in order to analyze your user behavior and provide you with tailored direct marketing.
As part of our marketing activities, it is important for us to advertise in a targeted and customized manner. Accordingly, through the applications described in our cookie banner and through our marketing activities, we record which customers and interested parties are interested in which products and how often they actually enter into a contractual relationship with us. Based on this, we coordinate advertising measures—for example, informing regular customers more frequently about our product range, while selecting the content and scope of advertising measures differently for occasional users.
We use the data you provide and the data generated through analysis and marketing tools to inform you about possible upgrades to your previous reservation (e.g. additional equipment components) or to provide you with other tailored advertising based on your user behavior.
Information about the analysis and marketing tools used can be found in section 8 of this privacy policy.
6. Newsletter
You have the option to subscribe to our free newsletter. With this newsletter, you will regularly receive the latest news and information about our company as well as tailored advertising regarding sports equipment available from us and our locations.
You can only subscribe to the newsletter after creating an optional customer account. As a new customer, after submitting your reservation request, you will receive an email informing you that you can create a customer account. If you wish to do so, you can initiate this by clicking the activation link contained in the email. You can then confirm the account activation. Once you have created a customer account, you can subscribe to the newsletter by giving your consent. Upon initial registration, we store the date and time of your subscription for security reasons, in case a third party misuses your email address without your knowledge. No additional data is collected or processed for the newsletter; the data is used exclusively for sending the newsletter.
Unless you object, we may share your data with cooperating locations for the purpose of analyzing your user behavior and subsequently sending marketing information. Within the corporate group, your newsletter data may be combined with other data collected (e.g. when purchasing goods or booking services) to enable tailored advertising.
This linking is primarily carried out via cookies, which—depending on how you interact with our newsletter—are stored in our system to help us understand which content and products are of particular interest to recipients and should therefore be emphasized.
The data determined and linked in this way is managed in a central customer database maintained by ISA and used within the “DynaCampaign” campaign management system for planning, controlling, and implementing (partially) automated and customized marketing campaigns.
Your data will not be passed on to third parties outside the INTERSPORT network or those not connected via a franchise agreement. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time; details can be found in your customer account and in every newsletter.
7. Data Transfer to the USA
We occasionally offer services that may involve the transfer of data to the USA. Such transfers have been subject to legal challenges in recent years. There are several legal bases for lawful data transfer to the USA, and we primarily rely on two:
Data transfer based on an adequacy decision
On July 10, 2023, the European Commission adopted a new adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR for the USA—the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
This applies only to data importers in the USA that are registered in the Data Privacy Framework List (https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov/s/participant-search).
We verify for each service provider receiving personal data in the USA whether they are registered on this list. If so, this is indicated in our privacy policy for the respective provider.
You can find the European Commission’s press release here: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_23_3721.
Consent
If a data importer is not registered in the Data Privacy Framework List, and no other legal basis applies (e.g. contract fulfillment), your consent may be required for processing your data in the USA (Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR).
This is because it is currently unclear how legal developments will evolve following the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Consent is obtained via our cookie banner or separately before using the respective service.
Your consent is required because, according to recent rulings (e.g. C-311/18 “Schrems II”), the USA is not considered to provide an adequate level of data protection. In particular, access by US authorities is not sufficiently restricted, does not require independent authorization, and offers limited legal remedies.
We have no direct influence on access by US authorities to data transferred to US service providers. Even if providers comply with contractual obligations, such access cannot be fully ruled out.
We therefore ask for your consent before using such services. We will indicate separately for each service whether data transfer to the USA may occur.
8. Tools and Applications Used
8.1. Links to Other Websites
Our website also contains links to other websites such as affiliate partners, our locations, and other cooperation partners. These are provided for informational purposes only, unless there is joint responsibility for the reservation platform. These websites are not under our control and are therefore not subject to this privacy policy. If you activate such a link, the operator of that website may collect and process your data in accordance with their own privacy policy, which may differ from ours.
8.2. Google Applications
We use various Google tools on our website. You can prevent the installation of Google cookies in several ways, for example by declining the service via our cookie banner or by adjusting your browser settings.
Details on how to individually reject cookies can be found in our cookie banner. Please note that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of our website fully. With your consent, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection to Google servers when using the tools described below. We have no influence over the scope of data transmitted or how Google uses this data. Known processing purposes are described below.
Google also processes your data in the USA. Please read the relevant information in this privacy policy before giving consent. Google LLC is registered in the Data Privacy Framework List.

8.2.6. Google Marketing Platform / Ad Manager

8.6. WebCare
We use the consent banner WebCare by DataReporter GmbH (Austria).

This function assigns each user a unique consent ID and logs consent actions. Data is stored securely for 60 days and then deleted. Storage location: Frankfurt, Germany.
WebCare Statistics
This feature collects anonymized data about interactions with the consent banner (e.g. opened, accepted, rejected). No personal tracking occurs.
Data is stored for 30 days.
8.8. Hosting
All data processed in connection with operating our website is stored as part of hosting. This is necessary for website functionality and based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

9. Data Transfer to INTERSPORT Retailers
We are part of a Europe-wide network with partners and franchisees in several countries.
To provide optimal service, we may share your personal data with partners in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and France for contractual and marketing purposes.
Data is processed partly as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR) and partly as joint controllers (Art. 26 GDPR). Agreements ensure you can contact both us and ISA regarding your rights.
